Fathom Entertainment has announced the official lineup and schedule for its annual Big Screen Classics film series, which will bring back 12 classic movies to theaters for a limited time. This year’s lineup is packed with landmark anniversary screenings, including the Ocean’s Eleven 25th anniversary and The Silence of the Lambs 35th anniversary.
What are the classic movies returning to theaters this year?
“Carefully curated, the series transforms legendary movies into must-see theatrical releases that resonate with both lifelong fans and new generations of moviegoers,” reads the description for Fathom’s 2026 Big Screen Classics. “Each presentation features a custom introduction from renowned film historian and critic Leonard Maltin, recorded specifically for theatrical audiences, offering insight into the film’s legacy, production, and lasting cultural impact.”
Listed below is the full 2026 lineup for Fathom’s Big Screen Classics, as well as each movie’s theatrical rerelease dates:
- Ben-Hur – Charlton Heston’s 1959 epic film will return to the theaters starting on March 29 and will continue through April 2.
- The Silence of the Lambs (35th Anniversary) – the 1991 psychological thriller film starring Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins will head back to theaters on April 26 and April 29.
- Fried Green Tomatoes (35th Anniversary) – Kathy Bates’ 1991 comedy-drama movie will arrive in theaters on May 10 and May 13.
- The Birdcage (35th Anniversary) – Robin Williams and Nathan Lane’s 1996 comedy movie will return on June 7 and June 10.
- Ocean’s Eleven (25th Anniversary) – Steven Soderbergh’s star-studded heist comedy from 2001 will return to theaters on June 21 and June 24.
- Citizen Kane (85th Anniversary) – Orson Welles’ acclaimed 1941 drama film will return on July 5 and July 8.
- The Fifth Element – Luc Besson’s 1997 sci-fi action film starring Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich will have its special screenings from July 26 to July 27.
- Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (55th Anniversary) – Gene Wilder’s iconic musical fantasy movie will return on August 2 and August 5.
- Gone With the Wind – 1952’s epic romance drama starring Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh will return to theaters starting from October 10 to October 14.
- A Beautiful Mind (25th Anniversary) – Ron Howard’s Russell Crowe-led biopic drama film will return on November 22 and November 23.
- The Maltese Falcon (85th Anniversary) – the 1941 noir classic starring Humphrey Bogart will be rereleased in theaters on December 6 and December 9.
- It’s a Wonderful Life (80th Anniversary) – James Stewart’s classic fantasy drama film from 1946 will return to theaters starting from December 18 to December 26.
