A new rumor suggests that an actor may officially be in the front running to be the next James Bond for Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming movie.
Who is rumored to be playing the next James Bond?
According to a new report from The Telegraph, rising star Callum Turner is “strongly rumored” to be the actor in line to succeed Daniel Craig as the next James Bond. The Telegraph’s report notes that oddsmakers at William Hill have pegged Turner as the new favorite to be Bond, ahead of stars like Henry Cavill, Theo James, and Harris Dickinson.
While there seems to be no real concrete reason for the shift, The Telegraph points to the fact that Turner was recently seen on holiday with his partner, Dua Lipa, at a resort at Oracabessa Bay, the former estate of author Ian Fleming. Turner is best known for his roles in the Fantastic Beasts movies, where he played Newt Scamander. He’s also starred in 2025’s Eternity, The Boys in the Boat, and more.
Currently, little is known about Villeneuve’s upcoming James Bond movie. The film will be written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, and will be the first Bond movie made since Amazon gained full control of the franchise.
The new agreement between Amazon and longtime Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson sees Amazon MGM Studios and the duo forming a new joint venture house to house the intellectual property rights for the Bond franchise. The next film in the series remains mostly mysterious, but will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, and written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.
The three parties (Amazon, Wilson, and Broccoli) will remain co-owners of the Bond series, but now Amazon MGM Studios will have creative control, something that Broccoli and Wilson had retained before. Prior to the announcement, both Wilson and Broccoli had been known as fiercely protective over the franchise, but in a statement on the move, Wilson noted that he was stepping back to focus more on art and charitable projects, while Broccoli said she would be focusing on other projects now.
