We set up a reader form last night to ask what you thought of the speech and nearly 2000 of you responded.

Announced eight hours prior, many Australians expected Albanese to make a major declaration regarding the conflict in the Middle East and the fuel crisis.

Some even speculated he would announce the introduction of fuel rationing.

Instead, he spent three minutes encouraging Australians to "go about your business and your life as normal", do their part to conserve fuel and consider public transport.

Albanese's speech was light on detail and did not deliver any new announcements aimed at addressing the crisis.

Many nine.com.au readers were disappointed and frustrated by the national address, calling it "nothing we didn't already know".

When asked if they're more likely to use public transport following Albanese's address last night, the overwhelming majority said no.

But some Aussies appreciated the address, saying it was clear and to the point which is what they need in complicated times like this.
