Two toddlers remain in a fight for their life this morning after a major crash on the Sunshine Coast yesterday.

A dump truck collided into the back of a car, sending it across the road, near the intersection of Banya Avenue and Bruny Street in Banya just before midday.

The truck then travelled another 400m before smashing into several cars that were stopped at the intersection.

A blue Haval station wagon became pinned between the truck and a construction site with a mother and her two toddlers, aged one and three, trapped inside.

Both toddlers are in a critical condition at Queensland Children's Hospital this morning.

Their mother, a 37-year-old, was last night in a stable condition at Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

The 52-year-old male truck driver, as well as a number of people in a black Toyota RAV4 and a white Toyota Hiace, were also taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with minor injuries.

Police say an investigation into the crash this morning is ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or who has relevant CCTV or dashcam footage is urged to contact police.
