Police horses, officer injured in incident with motorbike in Surfers Paradise

Two police horses and an officer have been injured after they were struck by a motorbike in Surfers Paradise on Saturday night.

Video shows an officer being thrown from his horse after a man allegedly accelerated a red Ducati towards them.

The 58-year-old male senior constable suffered a minor back injury.

The horses, Remington and Kokoda, are recovering with minor leg injuries at stables in Brisbane under treatment by veterinarians. 

The 40-year-old rider of the motorcycle was charged with two counts of unlawfully killing or injuring a police horse and one count of driving without due care and attention and driving under the influence.

He is due to appear in court in February.
