All five men took themselves to two separate hospitals with life-threatening injuries.
Police were called to Liverpool Hospital after the first two men, aged 28 and 32, presented with multiple wounds about 8.30pm.

The 28-year-old man, who is yet to be formally identified, underwent surgery but later died.
The other man remained in hospital in a serious but stable condition with a neck injury.
About 10 minutes later, two men, aged 23 and 22, presented to Fairfield Hospital in a serious condition.
They have since been transferred to different hospitals for treatment.
The 23-year-old is being treated for a gunshot injury to his neck, and the 22-year-old is being treated for a shoulder injury.

More than an hour later, at 9.50pm, the fifth man, aged 19, appeared at Liverpool Hospital with injuries to his arm.
He remains in a stable condition.
Police set up a crime scene at a home in Canley Heights, where they believe all five men were shot overnight.
Officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command – with assistance from the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad – are investigating.
