A man has been charged with murder after a woman was found dead in a home in northern Victoria.
A man has been charged with murdering his ex-partner just metres away from their children in the Murray River town of Cobram.
Prem Kumar, 45, faced court this afternoon charged with the murder of a 32-year-old woman, known by locals as Anu, who was found dead in her home early yesterday morning.
Neighbours told 9News the Dandenong man had been at the unit infrequently for the past 18 months.

He allegedly returned yesterday at 1.30am.
As two boys played outside, it's alleged their 32-year-old mother was killed inside by Kumar.
"I actually heard a thud, it was just like something hitting the bottom of the bin," a neighbour told 9News.
"I looked out the window and there was the two boys and they were on their little plastic bikes playing, and that was very unusual."
The two children were not physically injured.

Homicide detectives spent a second day collecting evidence at the home, where the tightknit community has been rocked by the tragedy.
Those who knew the mother said she rarely left the house and was living with MS.
Recently they raised concerns with government services claiming she needed help.
"Oh she was a loving mum. Very polite, very nice, sweet. [It's] just very sad," a neighbour told 9News.
"Two boys now are left without their mother ... it stinks."
Kumar remains behind bars and will face court again in December.
