The man arrested was camping with the 33-year-old man who died.
Police have arrested a man over the death of another man allegedly killed in an assault at a campground in northern New South Wales.
Two men who were camping together with a woman are believed to have become involved in an argument at a campground off Point Lookout Road in Ebor, about 80 kilometres from Armidale.
The altercation between the two men escalated when one seriously assaulted the other, leaving him with serious head injuries.

It is not known how the head injuries were caused, nor if a weapon was used.
The woman who was camping with the pair drove the injured man to Thora, calling friends who then alerted emergency services.
However, by the time they reached the car, the man had died.
"It's always a terrible thing that someone ends up dead from an altercation like this," Superintendent Chris McKinnon said.
"[He had] significant head injuries."

Police were initially unable to find the other man involved, but at around 11.30am this morning they arrested a 26-year-old man on Waterfall Way in Ebor.
It is believed he had received a lift to Ebor, but it is not known who drove him there.
The man is known to police, McKinnon confirmed.
He has been taken to Armidale Police Station, but charges have not been laid.
McKinnon confirmed police were currently speaking with the woman who witnessed the alleged assault.
