Convicted child killer Bevan Spencer von Einem, 79, died in Yatala Labour Prison early this morning following a period of declining health due to lung cancer.

Von Einem was serving a life sentence for the 1983 abduction and murder of 15-year-old Richard Kelvin, who was subjected to five weeks of torture before his body was discovered in the Adelaide foothills.
