There are fears two workers have been trapped in a collapse at a coal mine in Central Queensland.

There are fears two workers have been trapped in a collapse at a coal mine in Central Queensland this afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the Curragh mine site about 3pm (4pm AEDT).

9News Queensland reports that police responded to the mine near Blackwater, about 800 kilometres north-west of Brisbane.

It was understood emergency services were working to retrieve the pair about one kilometre underground.
