Facebook hit by site issue, accounts temporarily unavailable

Australians have tried to log into the social media site only to be hit with an error message.

Meta's Facebook appears to be temporarily down for some users.

Australian users have reported being unable to access the social media site on desktop browsers.

Some have received an error message which states the user's account is "temporarily unavailable".

"Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue," the message reads.

"We expect this to be resolved shortly. Please try again in a few minutes."

Meta's other major social media platform Instagram does not appear to be affected.

Nine.com.au has contacted Meta for comment.
