Exclusive: Multiple homes in Melbourne's north-east have allegedly been targeted by armed thugs.
In one of the overnight attacks, a machete-wielding gang smashed their way inside a property and ransacked it.
Footage shows them using machetes to smash a bedroom window before climbing inside the Heidelberg West home of a 23-year-old man with a disability.
"This is not acceptable in our community," the man's mother said.
"He's terrified. He's shaken. He can't sleep. He keeps crying. He keeps shaking."
Her son luckily wasn't home during the early morning attack.
He moved back in with her on Friday due to fears for his safety
"I'm just thankful that he's alive and he didn't have to witness the machetes in his face or anything more horrific," she said.
"These youth need to stop doing this to innocent, vulnerable people."
The victim's family believes the gang was after expensive clothes and shoes.
One person was allegedly captured with a full bag before he tried to get rid of the evidence.
The disabled man wasn't the only one targeted overnight.
In separate incidents in Viewbank, two 17-year-old boys allegedly tried to break into three homes.
They were disturbed by the residents and arrested shortly after.
"We're not feeling safe, and we're hoping the authorities will take this seriously and make Melbourne safe," another local said.
