Body found inside a car on the Gold Coast

A tragic discovery by emergency services, days after a car crashed down an embankment.

There's been a tragic discovery in the Gold Coast hinterland with a body found in a car that rolled down an embankment.

It's believed the car crashed a number of days ago and was only discovered today.

Emergency services were called to Springbrook Road at Neranwood, finding the car several metres down an embankment, about 11am.

Sadly, the driver and sole occupant was found dead inside that vehicle, which was flipped upside down with a suitcase inside.

The person has since been taken away from the scene by authorities but it's understood they had been reported missing by their loved ones.

It's took emergency services a number of hours to winch the car back up to the road so police can begin examining it.

There will be a thorough investigation into exactly what may have caused this tragic crash.
