New Report claims Philip Joseph DeSena has been arrested
A former Jeopardy champion, Philip Joseph “Joey” DeSena, has been arrested in North Carolina on two charges of felony secret peeping, according to court documents (via Entertainment Weekly). DeSena made an impression on the trivia show after he won two games back-to-back in November 2024.
He walked away with $44,698 during his stint (via TV Insider). He returned in January to participate in the Champions Wildcard Tournament. But DeSena did not advance past the semifinals, ending his Jeopardy! streak.
The development engineer from Raleigh was reportedly taken into custody on December 1, 2025. According to the arrest warrant, he was accused of “unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously” installing in a room “any device that can be used to create a photographic image, namely camera placed in the bathroom, with the intent to capture the image of another without their consent.”
Authorities allege that he committed the crime on October 10, 2025. Court records further revealed that a $5,000 bond was posted on December 3, 2025.
The publication mentioned above reported that DeSena’s first court appearance is scheduled for the Currituck County Court on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
As one of the oldest and most well-known game shows in the world, Jeopardy sees contestants from all walks of life over the year. In a calendar year, the game show sees roughly 400 contestants. Many contestants become television or internet personalities after their appearance on the show.
The game show is in its 42nd season and is continuing to go strong.
