Amazon MGM Studios has shared a brand new trailer for Mercy, the upcoming sci-fi thriller led by Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Rebecca Ferguson (Dune). The movie is slated to arrive in theaters on January 23, 2026.

What happens in the Mercy trailer?
The video shows Pratt as a detective who gets accused of murdering his wife. In a short amount of time, he must find a way to prove his innocence against an AI judge, who will be the one deciding his fate. If he fails his case, he will be sentenced to death. The trailer highlights his advanced search in uncovering the truth behind his wife’s murder. The cast will also feature Annabelle Wallis, Kali Reis, Rafi Gavron, Chris Sullivan, Kenneth Choi, and Kylie Rogers.
Mercy is directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) from a screenplay written by Marco van Belle. This marks the latest collaboration between Pratt and the filmmaker after previously working together in 2008’s action thriller Wanted. The PG-13 movie is produced by Bekmambetov, Charles Roven, Robert Amidon, and Majd Nassif, with Mark Moran and Todd Williams serving as executive producers.
Pratt was most recently seen in The Russo Brothers’ latest Netflix movie, The Electric State, and in the Prime Video spin-off series The Terminal List: Dark Wolf. He will once again return as the voice of Mario in the highly anticipated animated sequel, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which will premiere on April 3, 2026.
